Excited for Final Fantasy XVI? Us too, it’s definitely one of the most anticipated games of 2023. Naoki Yoshida, who worked wonders with Final Fantasy XIV, has taken the helm for this installment, and fans have been eagerly waiting for it.
The dark fantasy story, the epic summons, and the thrilling action promise to make it an unforgettable experience for Final Fantasy XVI. Plus, knowing that it’s being developed by the same team behind Devil May Cry 5 just adds to the hype.
And to top it all off, Square Enix just announced the presentation of Final Fantasy XVI this morning, featuring a 20-minute gameplay narrated by Naoki Yoshida himself as the Producer on today’s PlayStation State of Play.
Final Fantasy XVI Shows Its Devil May Cry Battle Style
In the latest State of Play from PlayStation, Square Enix shared more details about the mechanics of Final Fantasy XVI and treated us to some fresh glimpses of the game. Clive, the main character, showed off his awe-inspiring power as he summoned Bahamut and Odin in his stylishly executed combos, reminiscent of the refined combat in Devil May Cry 5, but with its own unique flair.
What makes it even more exciting is that Clive can also wield magic and perform swift and seamless moves, combining both elements in his battles. During the presentation, Naoki Yoshida explained that players will portray Clive at three different ages: 15, 20s, and 30s, with the character evolving and developing his personality accordingly.
The PlayStation State of Play also provided more information about the game world, including the introduction of a base camp where Clive can strategize, resembling a hub, and the inclusion of a world map inspired by Final Fantasy Tactics, continuing the lore of the world. Additionally, we were introduced to two new characters, Loresman Hapocrates and Vivian, who will teach us about the history of Valisthea and combat techniques.
Final Fantasy XVI is set to be released exclusively for PlayStation 5 on June 22, 2023, for a six-month period. The anticipation is building, and fans can’t wait to dive into this highly anticipated installment!
