Developer HoYoverse’s latest release, Honkai: Star Rail, has taken off with a bang, surpassing the launch numbers of their previous hit game, Genshin Impact.
Honkai: Star Rail Gets 20 Million Download in a Day
In just one day, Honkai: Star Rail has been downloaded over 20 million times – that’s three million more downloads than Genshin Impact had in its first four days on mobile devices according to weibo via Niko Partners’ Daniel Ahmad.
It’s no surprise, really. Honkai: Star Rail generated a lot of excitement leading up to its release, with 30 million pre-registrations worldwide.
China alone accounted for 21 million of those pre-registrations on Honkai: Star Rail, on the other hand and ten million from the rest of the world.
IGN reported that Genshin Impact has attracted 20 million pre-registrations in China and five million from the rest of the world before the game launch.
To celebrate the game’s success, the developers are giving out 10 free Special Passes this weekend following a festival.
