Steam never ceases to amaze PC gamers worldwide with a slew of unexpected updates.
Following its implementation of AI technology to predict gamers’ preferences, Valve has now introduced new features to one of the world’s largest PC game launchers.
In a recent blog post, Valve announced a significant UI change in Steam that can now be accessed by those who have activated the beta version of the launcher.
New Steam Feature Lets You Pin In-Game Overlay
According to Valve, this update provides the same code simultaneously for Steam Deck, Big Picture Mode, and the launcher via Desktop.
Additionally, Steam’s in-game overlay has received a facelift. Players can now access a more intuitive UI when pressing Shift+Tab, which displays achievements, playtime, and community guides.
What’s even better is that players can customize the Steam in-game overlay to include any information they desire, such as the Steam web browser and marketplace.
Furthermore, they can add their own notes and display them directly in the game for future reference. Valve refers to this feature as the Steam Notes app.
The notes can be used offline and are stored per game, so players don’t have to create new notes when playing a new game on Steam.
To install notes in-game, players can use the pin feature, which allows them to adjust its transparency level.
Valve has also introduced notifications in Steam, which turn green when something new is available. Additionally, there’s a “view all” button that displays all notifications, similar to social media notifications.
The Screenshot Manager has also received some responsive features, such as the option to choose between large or small thumbnails, view the latest screenshots, and manage online and offline versions.
