During an investor call, EA’s CEO, Andrew Wilson, hinted at the potential for pop-culture crossovers in Apex Legends. He emphasized that nothing is off the table when it comes to expanding the popular battle royale game developed by Respawn Entertainment.
The concept of crossover collaborations is not new in the gaming industry, with various battle royale titles already featuring exciting brand partnerships.
Fortnite, in particular, has become renowned for its numerous collaborations with different brands. Games like PUBG and Warzone have also introduced crossover content over the years.
Potential Pop-Culture Crossovers Could Be Coming to Apex Legends
EA CEO, Andrew Wilson said (as shared by IGN):
Increasingly, game developers are embracing collaborations and crossovers to generate additional revenue. They offer cosmetic packs and bundles that grant players exclusive skins, outfits, and even new characters.
Recently, Overwatch 2 even joined the trend by featuring its first major collaboration with a pop-culture brand, introducing a bundle inspired by One-Punch Man.
Although there are no concrete plans yet to incorporate pop-culture content into Apex Legends, the CEO’s statement during the EA investor call suggests that it could be a possibility in the near future. Andrew Wilson made it clear that he believes nothing should be ruled out when considering brand crossovers.
